The Weighbridge roundabout will be closed in sections overnight from 11 to 21 April to allow resurfacing.

Traffic and Highways has announced that the Weighbridge roundabout, a key route into town, will be resurfaced.

The work will be carried out in four phases, with different sections of the roundabout closed in turn.

Closures will take place overnight between 7pm and 3am to 'minimise disruption'.

The project is expected to last 10 days, running from Saturday 11 April to 21 April.

During the day, the road will open, although drivers 'will notice minor changes in surface levels where there are unfinished surfaces.'

At the same time, two new informal crossings will also be added at the bottom of Bosq Lane and across Glategny Esplanade.

The alignment of the cycle lane and footpath along Glategny Esplanade will also be improved, and tactile paving will be installed to help visually impaired pedestrians cross the cycle lane safely.

Traffic and Highways explained the closure stages on soical media:

Stage 1 - Overnight on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th April: The whole of the inner lane of the roundabout will be closed, but there will still be access to the outer lane.

Stage 2 - Overnight on Monday 13th, Tuesday 14th, Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th April: The east side of the roundabout will be closed, which will mean that there will be no access to the roundabout from Glategny Esplanade, no access to or from North Beach/exit from the White Rock, and no exit onto North Esplanade. During this stage, please note that it will not be possible to exit North Beach car park or the White Rock between 7pm-3am on these nights.

Stage 3 - Overnight on Friday 17th, Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th April: The west side of the roundabout will be closed, which will mean that there will be no access to the roundabout from North Esplanade, no access to or from St Julian's Avenue, and no exit onto Glategny Esplanade.

Stage 4 - Overnight on Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st April: Glategny Esplanade will be closed heading north, but the roundabout will be open.
