A Guernsey man has developed an app, bringing useful information for islanders together in one place.
After hearing friends and family struggle to find local information online, Chris Hyman decided to create an app.
Good Day Guernsey brings information together in one place, including school term dates, road closures, tide times, local weather and real-time flight arrival updates.
The app pulls information from various websites, and accepts forms for review and organises the data into categories.
Following positive feedback, Chris has decided to make the app available for free on the Apple App Store, with an Android version coming soon.
Chris explains how the application grew:
"I initially made it as an app for friends and family and mainly myself so I knew when to put the bins out.
"Obviously I had to go onto the gov website, put my postcode in, find the address and then find out which bins to put out, and I thought there must be an easy way of doing this.
"And then lots of friends and family kept saying, well, can't you add roads to it so we know when roads are closed, and can't you add event dates?
"So I've tried to compile as much of that as I can into one place."
Chris plans to add more features in the future:
"It would be great to incorporate booking systems into it, but that's far beyond what I'd be able to do on my own; that's a whole team of developers you need to do something like that.
"But I mean the possibilities are endless.
"If people have got ideas or suggestions or anything they'd like adding or are open to adding stuff and making improvements, get in touch."
