Guernsey States 'in talks' with easyJet

Guernsey's Economic Development Committee has confirmed that it is in talks with 'a number of airlines' about island routes.

It’s been less than a month since Blue Islands collapsed, and since then, there has been speculation about the future of Guernsey’s air links.

Loganair and Aurigny are both applying for licences to operate lifeline routes, and now Guernsey's Economic Development Committee has confirmed that discussions with easyJet have taken place.

Committee President Deputy Sasha Kazantseva-Miller says improving connectivity is a key goal.

She wouldn't comment on rumoured routes.

"The discussions are confidential at this stage.

"We explore a number of opportunities given that Guernsey is increasingly seen as a strong destination to partner with.

"We are always open to exploring the routes and opportunities that are interesting to different airlines.

"As the community has undergone some significant disruption because of the collapse of Blue Islands, I think we need to take a cautious approach in terms of the next steps, but we continue those discussions, and we are always keen to explore what is possible to improve connectivity for the Bailiwick."
