Ross Coppolo will oversee the movement of vessels, aircraft, passengers, vehicles and freight into and out of the Bailiwick.
Mr Coppolo has worked up Guernsey Port's career ladder since 2010.
He joined as Safety Manager, before becoming Head of Safety in May 2018, and being promoted to Chief Operating Officer in March 2020.
He will take over the lead role from Colin Le Ray, after a few transitionary months.
States’ Trading Group Managing Director, Simon Elliott, congratulated Mr Coppolo.
“Ross has already proven himself to be an experienced, motivational and well-respected leader within our organisation.
Ross has substantial local knowledge and is well-equipped to embrace the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.”
Mr Coppolo says he has big plans for the future.
“I am hugely excited to take on the role of Managing Director and to lead a great Ports team as we continue to focus upon growing and diversifying the business and building on our future ambitions.”
