Giant mural unveiled at Guernsey Airport

A huge mural has been painted on a wall at Guernsey Airport’s check-in area.

Vibrant artwork, sponsored by Butterfield, has been unveiled at Guernsey Airport.

The design is meant to brighten the day of both locals and visitors going through the terminal.

The mural includes iconic symbols of Guernsey, including a puffin, the Guernsey lily, and local seaweed.

The creation of the piece stemmed from a conversation between artist Tiffany Anna and Guernsey Port's David Buddery, who agreed that public spaces should be more welcoming and visually engaging.

Tiffany Anna worked for five weeks to complete the mural with fellow artist Woodie.

"I think it is fundamental for people's happiness and general life to see artwork, because it makes you feel an emotion.

"Also, tourism, I think it brings more people to the island, if they knwo there is artwork here."

She says around 50 litres of paint has been used on the wall.

David Buddery says it 'brings the terminal to life'.

"It was just a plain blank wall, on your left when you check in, whereas now we have got this great big piece of art on there.

"I think it will be a focus point and what people look for when they go in there, and hopefully brighten people's day a bit."
