French market returns to Guernsey

The Normandy Market will return to Guernsey this autumn for three days.

Over the second weekend in October (10 to 13 October), islanders will be able to embrace French flavours, crafts and culture in the Market Square.

It's been two years since the French Market has been in St Peter Port, offering Authentic regional cheeses, charcuterie, handmade soaps, textiles and Normandy cider.

Due to the ongoing import restrictions on meat and dairy, the stall will allow islanders to get their hands on the specialities safely and legally.

Economic Development President Deputy Sasha Kazantseva-Miller welcomes the return of the French Market.

"The market is a celebration of our island’s ties with Normandy and a shared heritage that stretches back centuries, as well as a chance to meet skilled artisans.

"The Committee looks forward to strengthening our relationship with France in the years ahead and exploring new ways our economies can grow together.

“The market is a wonderful way for families and friends to enjoy Market Square together, whilst for visitors it offers a unique experience that showcases the island’s strong European connections.

"Plus, at a time when personal imports are restricted, we are especially pleased to give islanders this opportunity to access authentic French produce.”

The market opening hours will be:

Friday (10 October) 10am - 7pm,

Saturday and Sunday (11 and 12 October) 9am - 7pm
Monday (13 October) 9am - 3:30pm
