Sark Shipping has withdrawn its subsidy with immediate effect.
For some time Sark residents have been able to claim a discount on the boat fare to Guernsey if they are travelling to a medical appointment.
The reduced fare was also available to anyone accompanying the patient.
That ended on Friday (17 July) following a board level review of concessionary fares by Sark Shipping.
The company has absorbed the cost until now, but has decided, with immediate effect, that it can no longer do so.
It says this is a decision it has not taken lightly.
Sark's Medical and Emergency Services Committee says it will not offer any medical fares subsidy at this stage, but will keep that decision under review.
