Glass that may date back to the Occupation is seen as the likely cause of the major wildfire on Little Sark.
There is unlikely to be an investigation into the wildfire on Little Sark last Friday (10 July).
Sark's Fire Chief, Kevin Adams, has told Island FM that he could request one, but there is little need as he is certain that it was caused by discarded glass.
He says the glass is most likely to have been dropped years ago:
"I've collected a tub of glass, a big washing tub full of it, that we've picked up over the last couple of days, but some of the glass is 25 or 30 years old."
He says the German may have inadvertently been to blame, as they built a house in the area and there are likely to be pieces of window glass in the undergrowth:
"It was called Bungalow House, and they put it on the edge of the cliffs, but it blew down in a storm."
Separately, the amount being raised to support Sark residents who helped tackle a wildfire has increased.
The GoFundMe campaign is now seeking £11,000 after surpassing its original £6,000 target.
The campaign description has also been updated to clarify that the money will help replace equipment damaged during the emergency.
