
Import rules around food underlined as more people use the enhanced Guernsey -St Malo link.
The States want people to understand why they cannot bring back meat and dairy products after returning from nearby Brittany and Normandy or further afield in Europe.
It is because of the number of highly-infectious animal diseases circulating on the continent - such as African Swine Fever - which the authorities want to keep out of Guernsey.
The ban on people bringing back food is temporary at this stage and is sparked by concerns about the provenance of the food and the conditions it is stored under.
The same rules do not apply to commercial importers, who need to satisfy a raft of rules around food storage and transportation.
They will also have the right paperwork proving where the food comes from and any health checks that have been carried out.
The popularity of the St Malo link which has been enhanced by Brittany Ferries is behind the reason for the reminder.
