Coronavirus: Four Test Positive After Going To Same Venue

Four people who tested positive for coronavirus in Jersey earlier this month all went to the same venue on two consecutive days.

Their direct contacts are now in isolation and the contact tracing team is now looking in more detail at why this happened.

All four went to the unnamed venue on 16 and 17 September, with two visiting together and the others going separately and at different times.

Two arrived from London on different flights and went into isolation when the test they took at the airport came back positive. They can't travel off-island are now isolating for 14 days. All of their known direct contacts have tested negative.

The third case was visiting family in Jersey and was identified when back in the UK. That person developed symptoms several days later and tested positive. The fourth was a family member of this person, a household contact, with two more members of the same household also since testing positive.

Other people who were there at the same time as these positive cases are being tested. Other places they visited are also being monitored.

"This shows our test and tracing works. We have systems in place to identify contacts of people who test positive, and these cases demonstrate that we can respond quickly to minimise the risk of further cases.

"The venue visited by the four people has an excellent contact-tracing system in place and was able to share all required information at speed. This is as a timely reminder of the importance of all Jersey venues collecting accurate data on every customer, and of individuals cooperating with the authorities when asked to self-isolate as a direct contact of a positive case."

Channel 103 asked the government what the venue was and received this response.

"The Government will not be releasing the location of the venue."
