A body has been brought ashore after being found onboard the sunken trawler L'Ecume II.
The recovery team working to raise the wreckage made the discovery on Wednesday evening (26 April).
The vessel sank on 8 December 2022 after a collision with the Commodore Goodwill freight ship.
The bodies of the two fishermen on board at the time were found five days later, but their skipper Michael Michieli remained missing.
Andy Shearwood, Senior Investigating Officer for Operation Nectar - the police investigation into what happened - says the Michieli family have been informed of the discovery.
"An identification process will be taking place in due course, and there will be no comments until this has been confirmed.
The Michieli family continue to be supported by our Family Liaison Officers."
A specialist diving team and recovery vessels have been in the island for the salvage mission, which has been hampered by conditions and the discovery that the L’Ecume II has suffered some break up.
