College Remembers Its War Heroes

Victoria College has dedicated this week to mark a hundred years since the end of the First World War.

Staff and students are taking part in WW1 themed lessons, and trying food from the trenches in their canteen.

126 former pupils died in the conflict. Their names are recorded in a Book of Remembrance.

Pictures of the OVs are being displayed around the schools, and an audio version of the school’s Book of Remembrance is being played on a continuous loop along the main corridor.

A special ‘growing poppy’ sculpture has been created. Boys and staff have made paper flowers and have been adding to the artwork as more poppies are produced.

On Friday the school will be joined by Chelsea Pensioners for a Remembrance Service in the Great Hall.
