Navy to Victory touring aircraft to visit Jersey and open up to the general public on Tuesday 3rd June 2025

Following the success of their Open Day this month, Jersey Aero Club are inviting club members, aviation enthusiasts, historians and families alike to step back in history as they proudly hosts an exclusive ticketed event to visit and explore this flying museum!

The Douglas R4D is the naval version of the iconic aircraft more commonly known as the C-47 Skytrain, used by the USAAF and Dakota by the RAF. It was used by the US Navy during the Second World War for long-range maritime duties and anti-submarine warfare.

Built in 1944, ‘Ready 4 Duty’ was delivered to the U.S. Navy Atlantic Special Service Squadron and was used for airborne search and radar. It contributed to the sinking of a German U-boat in February 1945, and is the last of its kind still flying. ‘Ready 4 Duty’ is maintained and operated by the Dallas / Fort Worth Wing of the Commemorative Air Force.

Nigel Hall, Chairman of Jersey Aero Club said: “We are excited to offer our members and the public the opportunity to get up close to a piece of flying history.

Whilst the DC3 aircraft played a part in Jersey’s connectivity through until the late 70s, the wonderful team of the Commemorative Air Force will be opening up their aircraft to show people around the outside as well as a chance to visit the cockpit of this legendary aircraft.”

Tickets are paid on the day - £5 per person (12+), under 12s for £3 per person at the Flying Desk, and donations made to support the Commemorative Air Force with their educational programme and aircraft preservation efforts.

Free parking available, and access to the Aviator Cafe afterwards.

Time slots are from 1430 on Tuesday 3rd June 2025 and should be booked per person to assist organisers, via the website - https://www.jerseyaeroclub.com/navy-to-victory-hosted-by-jersey-aero-club/
