A UK fire engine manufacturer has built two new fire trailers to help protect Herm.
Emergency One's units can pump up to 1,000 litres of water per minute, and replace the originals supplied to Herm 20 years ago.
They are meant to help the on-call firefighters based in Herm suppress a fire, until backup from Guernsey can travel across.
Lee Dawson from Emergency One says Herm was an 'inspiring challenge' for his design team.
"Every detail was meticulously considered to optimise functionality, efficiency, and safety.
Our design had to strike a balance between robustness and suitability for Herm's terrain, ensuring that the trailers could navigate the rugged landscape while still delivering essential firefighting capabilities was paramount.”
