Sleepout On Track To Raise £10k

Organisers of a charity sleep-out say they are hopeful that more than £10,000 has been raised for Sanctuary Trust.

That's enough to provide two people with food, clothing and shelter for a year.

Around 130 people spent last night sleeping on cardboard in Pier Road car park to raise money and awareness of homelessness in Jersey.

Some of those who took part say there was a good atmosphere despite the cold, with a film and hot food provided to get the fundraisers through the night.

They were joined by one homeless man who said he's not the only one regularly having to spend the night sheltering in the island's multi-storey car parks.

Volunteers from the Grace Trust and the Park Life choir turned out to show their support.

Debbie Jeffries, who organised the fundraiser tells Channel 103 she's very thankful for everyone who got involved - and hopes the event can return next year.
