Recycling Centres Gradually Reopening

We can now get rid of our garden waste at La Collette again after the government eased lockdown restrictions.

The Household Green Waste reception is back open today (Saturday 2 May) between 8am and 4pm.

Mini recycling centres will open again on Tuesday 5 May and the Household Reuse and Recycling Centre will reopen from Wednesday 6 May.

Anyone who goes to La Collette is told to maintain physical distancing and maintain good hygiene.

"I want to thank islanders for their patience so far by staying at home. Now that restrictions have begun to be eased, we are pleased to be able to open the facilities. We understand that due to Covid-19 there will be an increased volume of waste to be disposed of on sites that are running with restricted staffing levels.

"I do ask that Islanders exercise patience with when they visit La Collette, we know there will be queues. Staff are working hard to accommodate everyone but because of unprecedented challenges, they will be unable to help unload vehicles during this time. You are advised to only bring small volumes of recycling, and your continued patience is appreciated." - Deputy Kevin Lewis, Infrastructure Minister.

Only one person is allowed in a car to La Collette, they will have to unload vehicles themselves because of coronavirus restrictions and they are being asked to load their vehicle in a way that is easy to unload so visits don't last longer than 10 minutes.

No trailers or commercial vehicles are announced.

The opening times are:

* Saturday 2 May & Sunday 3 May - Household green waste reception back open between 8am and 4pm.

* Monday 4 May - All La Collette sites closed.

* Tuesday 5 May - Bring banks open again for small volumes of basic household recycling. People must physically distance and abide by touch-point hygiene rules. All La Collette sites closed.

* Wednesday 6 May & Thursday 7 May - Household Reuse and Recyling Centre back open along with Household green waste reception and commercial sites

* Friday 8 May & Saturday 9 May - All sites closed.

* Sunday 10 May onwards - Sites open between Wednesdays and Sundays between 8am and 4pm.
