What was Christmas like in a Victorian House? Jersey Heritage has the answer this Christmas!
More Information (Channel 103 is not responsible for external websites)
Our Living History enactors will welcome you and get your Christmas started with a selection box of Victorian parlour games from ‘The Minister’s Cat’ to ‘Are You There Moriarty?’. Moving up through the house, you will encounter our musicians and singers, engaged by Mrs Syvret, the lady of the house, to welcome her guests. Ezekiel Winterbourne will demonstrate the art of letter locking – sealing letters to Father Christmas or a loved one in wax. Miss Honey, the schoolteacher, will teach the children their ABCs using chalk and slate. Professor Fortuna, a lady traveller, summons her mystic powers, learned on her travels, to tell your fortune. Stories abound in the Victorian House, in the drawing room Christmas tales to warm your heart and in the attic ‘Penny Dreadful’ tales to tingle the spine. And, of course, Father Christmas in his traditional green will be greeting children, young and old!
