Dementia Awareness Week
Join Dementia Jersey from the 15th to 21st May 2021 to help raise awareness and support for their cause, which provides support for those living with and affected by dementia in Jersey.
The week focuses on raising awareness of the charity so islanders know who they are and that they are there to support in any way that they can.
The following events are taking place during Dementia Awareness Week:
- There will be educational sessions through “Dementia Friends”
- Annual Memory walk on Sunday 16th May
- #GetYourPurpleOn dress down day Friday 21st May.
Expect to see lots of purple and opportunities to donate with volunteers collecting donations throughout the week in various locations, and a raffle will be held at their information stand in Charring Cross, St Helier throughout the week.
Dementia is becoming a growing disease with currently 1600 diagnosed in Jersey; a number which is expected to double in the next 20yrs. With growing numbers comes a growing need for their services which has increased by 235% since 2012, proving just how vital their charity is, to support islanders.
They look forward to as many islanders as possible getting involved so they can help make our island truly dementia friendly.
Dementia Jersey offers specialised support including counselling, a dementia advice service and support groups. They also offer a range of stimulating activities for those living with dementia and education talks to help raise awareness.
