Cruise Liners Bring In 7,200 Visitors
The 2018 cruise season has been one of Jersey’s busiest to date.
More than 7,200 passengers came ashore from the 13 ships that called in the island this summer.
The last one of the year – the MS Astor – was due to dock in St Aubin’s Bay yesterday, but it had to cancel because of the weather.
Next year is looking similarly busy for the island’s tourism industry, with 13 cruise liners already due to call here in 2019.
Myra Shacklady from Ports of Jersey says the future’s bright for the island as a cruise destination:
“Despite the geographical constraints Jersey currently has in berthing options, which does limit the number of visiting cruise ships, those shipping companies that do include Jersey as a destination are very impressed by what the Island has to offer its passengers with a range of on-island options to choose from. As a result, we welcome a number of repeat cruise ships and passengers to the Island”.
