Workforce Grows To 59,080
Jersey’s workforce has grown to 59,080.
Jobs have been created in the private sector, while the public sector headcount decreased by 200 in the year to June
650 more people were in employment this summer compared to last.
There were 860 more jobs in the private sector – including 300 in construction, and 250 in finance.
But 100 fewer people were on the payroll in agriculture and tourism.
There was a rise in the use of controversial zero hours contracts – with 11% percent of the island’s workforce on employment terms that don’t guarantee work.
