Optimists Win Top Prize At Battle Of Flowers
The Optimists Club have won the top prize at the 2018 Battle of Flowers.
They regain the Prix d’Honneur with ‘In Flanders Fields’ after winning it for six consecutive years until being beaten by St Clement in 2017.
Designer Steve Bouchard said the reception the float had received had been ‘phenomenal’.
The crowd fell to a respectful silence as it passed along the route.
“It was a weird atmosphere to be with a float that did that, but the ripple of applause that then crescended (sic) into a rupture of applause was just fantastic.”
The Parish of Clement are the victors of the Prix d’Excellence with their float ‘Into The Woods’.
