No Football At 2019 Games
Football and cycling won’t feature in the 2019 Island Games in Gibraltar.
The island’s putting on a scaled-down version of the competition after Menorca pulled out of hosting.
Football, cycling and volleyball – which have featured in every competition since it started in 1985 – aren’t among the 12 sports on the programme.
They are been replaced by squash, judo and, for the first time at a Games, ten pin bowling.
Golf is out too, because the island doesn’t have a course.
Gibraltar’s was the sole bid for the tournament.
