Jersey Live: Crowds Wowed, But Queues Test Festival-Goers Patience

Performers Paul Weller and Groove Armada delighted a sell-out crowd of 10,000 at this year's Jersey Live.

But there have been numerous complaints on the festival's Facebook page about long queues on the first day.

Some festival-goers reported waits of more than two hours in 25 degree heat while bags were searched.

186 people needed first aid over the two days, and 11 were taken to hospital.

St John Ambulance says around 20 of those they looked after were youngsters who had drunk too much on the way to the event.

Some were vomiting and collapsing in the queues outside.

Eight people were arrested for theft and public order offences, and 40 people were thrown out - four of them for having drugs.

Police say the festival 'passed peacefully and without serious incident'. Both the force and St John Ambulance have praised the event control staff.

Festival organiser Warren Le Sueur says the long queues were caused by a large number of people turning up at the same time.

He says they made changes so that things ran more smoothly on Sunday and they will review their procedures for next year.
