She was pronounced dead a short time later at the General Hospital. Three of her four passengers are still in hospital in the UK.

Islanders Paying More For Meat And Veg

We are paying 25% more for meat than shoppers in the UK, and a third more for fresh fruit and veg.

Detailed price comparisions have been published by Jersey States statistics unit.

Prices of many of the things we put in our shopping basket are recorded to work out the cost of living.

They can be compared to the UK.

On average we pay 10p more for a pint of beer, 20 pence less for a packet of cigarettes and 13p a litre less to fill up at the pump.

But pre-tax prices of alcohol, tobacco and fuel are all higher here than on the mainland, though slightly lower than in Guernsey.

And Robert Kirkby, who represents Financial Services, says there has been a lot of detail missing from the process so far and that there needs to be a closer look at the pros and cons of each tax option.
