Glenburn Reservoir death: Family’s tribute to ‘little comedian’

11:32 am, 19th July 2018

Ben Thomson died at Glenburn Reservoir in Paisley, Renfrewshire, on Tuesday.

Police launched a search for the teenager, from the Glenburn area of the town, following reports he had gone into the water.

Firefighters and paramedics joined the officers just after 5.30pm and the boy’s body was pulled from the reservoir almost three hours later.

In a statement on Thursday, his family said: “Ben was one of the kindest, sweetest, son, brother, grandson and friend that anyone could ever have.

“He was our little comedian, always cracking jokes and keeping us all amused. Our lives will never be the same.”

Police Scotland – which sent members of its dive and marine unit to the scene – has said the death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesman said a report would be submitted to coroner and a post-mortem would be held to establish the exact cause of death.

Glenburn Reservoir, which is located 13 miles from Glasgow, is near two golf courses and a country park.
