Andy Murray delays Queen’s decision as Wimbledon fitness concerns continue

9:02 pm, 15th June 2018

The Scotsman has not played since last year’s Wimbledon tournament as he continues his recovery from hip surgery, slipping to 157 in the world rankings in the process.

Murray practiced with Cameron Norrie on Friday and had originally planned to announce afterwards whether he would play at Queen’s, but he will now delay his decision until Saturday, when the draw for the Fever-Tree Championships are made.

Rafael Nadal has already withdrawn from the event but Novak Djokovic has been handed a wildcard entry.

Murray is still listed on The Fever-Tree Championships entry list, but withdrew from this week’s Libema Open in the Netherlands.

Wimbledon, which Murray first won in 2013 to end Britain’s 77-year wait for a home champion, begins on July 2.
