New Board To Review Hospital Site Decision
A new board has been created to examine the decision to build Jersey’s new hospital on the existing site.
It will be chaired by Constable Chris Taylor – who has previously called for the States to look at other locations.
The likes of Overdale, St Saviour’s Hospital and the Waterfront were looked at, but were deemed less suitable than Gloucester Street.
People’s Park was initially first choice, but faced public opposition.
A mix of politicians will join Constable Taylor to see how the previous Assembly reached their conclusion to build the new hospital on its current home.
They’ll report their findings to the Chief Minister in October.
“I believe this will be a constructive way to move forward and deliver a new hospital for islanders.
The board will report in a transparent manner, so we can make sure that this decision, one of our most important in a generation, is the right decision.” – Senator John Le Fondré
