More Help For Families Bereaved By Suicide

10th September 2018

Families bereaved by suicide are to be offered more support.

On World Suicide Prevention Day, Mind Jersey has revealed plans for a peer support worker programme.

It’ll see those who’ve been through the pain help others in the aftermath of losing a loved one.

James Le Feuvre is from Mind Jersey:

“We believe that there is currently a significant gap in the provision of support for people bereaved by suicide and that there is a role for a volunteer peer support worker, with lived experience in this area, to meet this need. This peer-to-peer support would be delivered to complement, and not replace, appropriate professional input. With the allocation of sufficient resources Mind Jersey believes that its existing family and carers support service would be well placed to host and oversee this provision.”
