Kirch Vouchers Limited To Most Needy
Fewer pensioners will get food vouchers from Sir David Kirch this Christmas.
The millionaire philantropist ha made some changes to his generous annual gift to islanders.
Every year since 2006, Sir David has given away food vouchers to over seventies. He first did it to mark his own 70th birthday.
Now he says he will be directing the money to those most in need.
Only pensioners on certain States benefits will be eligible – although the minimum age has dropped to 65, and the value increased to £120.
The extra funding will mean the gift will be repeated again for Liberation Day next May.
“It is hoped that those no longer eligible will understand that the original intention was always to assist those who were in need at Christmas.” – Sir David Kirch Charitable Trust
