Jersey Chief Police Officer Dies
The Chief Officer of Jersey Police has died at the age of 54 after a long battle with cancer.
Rob Bastable passed away over the weekend, surrounded by his immediate family.
Mr Bastable arrived in Jersey in 2013 after 30 years working in the City of London Police.
He was appointed as Chief Officer in July last year, after a stint as Deputy and Superintendent Head of Uniformed Operations.
He is survived by his parents, wife Frances and their two sons.
Acting Chief Officer Julian Blazeby says he will be sorely missed.
“Rob Bastable was first and foremost very much a family man and committed Christian who brought so much to the police service through his leadership, commitment and great sense of humour.
“Rob will be missed by his colleagues and partners from the blue light services and across the States of Jersey whom he worked closely with and formed strong relationships.
“All of the States of Jersey’s thoughts reach out to Rob’s family, friends and colleagues”
