Inflation At 6 Year Low
The cost of living in Jersey is rising at its slowest rate in six years.
The annual rate of inflation last month was 0.1%.
In September, inflation – measured by the Retail Price Index – was 0.8% lower than it was June.
The figures also show life has become cheaper for pensioners, with a 0.6% drop in prices for them.
The cost of food dropped 2%, as did motoring because petrol and diesel prices were 20-22 pence lower than a year earlier. Car insurance premiums were also lower.
Clothes and shoes were 3% cheaper, and the cost of fuel was 10% lower, driven by a a 19p a litre saving on the cost of domestic heating oil.
