Hospital Plans Refined To Shorten Buildings

26th July 2018

Small changes have been suggested for Jersey’s new hospital.

The States’ Future Hospital team want the proposed buildings to fit in better with the surrounding area.

They want to reduce the height of the building behind the original 18th Century hospital to make it less visible from Gloucester Street.

The proposed Westaway Court building and tower block behind the original granite hospital buildings will be shortened under the revised plans.

Plans for Westaway Court on Savile Street has also been shortened, so it fits in better with nearby properties.

The changes come ahead of a planning inquiry, which could see the plans shelved altogether in favour of another location.

The inquiry gets underway in September.
