Dragon Boat Festival Returns
The annual ‘Dragon Boat Festival’ is back for its 21st year.
20 competitors will board the specially designed boats and race at Albert Quay, all to raise money for charity.
The first race gets underway at 10am, with the spectacular nine-boat final at 4pm.
Fundraisers will be hoping to top last year’s £50,000 total, with thousands of participants raising more than £700,000 for Jersey Hospice Care over the event’s 21-year history.
Event organiser Linzi Duckworth says it’s one of the charity’s highlights of the year:
“It’s not often that you get to see people dressed as flamingos walking in formation and clowns competing against men in drag! As well as being great fun, it’s also a significant fundraiser for us, regularly bringing in more than £50,000.”
