Catholic Dean Leads Final Mass
After 19 years, Jersey’s Catholic Dean is leading his final mass this morning.
Catholic churches across the island have closed their doors and everyone’s invited to Fort Regent at 10:30am to say farewell to Monsignor Nicholas France MBE.
He says he’s looking forward to meeting with the island’s community:
“It’s going to be an emotional occasion, but one of thanksgiving for all the blessings I’ve received through being here these last 19 years. It’s a sad goodbye to everyone, but I’m very glad to be handing on to an excellent successor who’s going to be arriving in a few weeks time – and by which time everyone will have forgotten me!”
The island’s new Catholic Dean, Canon Dominic Golding, will lead his first mass in two weeks time.
