Black Butter Making Underway

22nd October 2015

The annual Black Butter making is under-way at the National Trust HQ.

But volunteers are needed at the Elms in St Mary, to peel apples, stir the pot and fill jars – including throughout night on Friday.

Chief Stirrer, Malcolm Macready says making the preserve is a simple, but slow, process.

It starts with a 3 hour apple peeling session from 2pm on Thursday, restarts at 10am on Friday and continues through to Saturday afternoon.

Musical entertainment and a free breakfast will be provided for those who stir through the night.
