Airport Hangar Hold Up

19th June 2018

Work to build three hangars for private jets at Jersey Airport can’t start, because a neighbour has complained.

Robert McAllister’s appeal will be heard by a UK inspector next month.

The Planning Committee approved the application in March, to provide space for private aircraft owners.

That’s despite fears over the loud noise the work could create, which has led to Mr McAllister’s complaint.

Ports of Jersey says acoustic fences and landscaping embankments would limit the noise as much as possible.

It adds the delay will make the £10 million building more expensive and is holding up an important source of revenue.

The appeal hearing is set up for the 4th of July.
