10 Day Jersey Art Celebration Underway
Jersey artists are opening their workspaces to the public this weekend and next.
70 – including Jane James, Matt Falle and Lucy and Rosemary Blackmore – are letting the public in as part of the Skipton Open Studios events.
There’ll also be pop up exhibitions at venues across the island.
Alice Bravery from ArtHouse Jersey says lots of new talent will be showcasing their abilities.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase the best that Jersey has to offer from a creative culture perspective.
“We’re putting artists on the street painting murals, so it’s really going to be in the public eye.”
There is also a sealed art auction, allowing you the chance to bid for an original work of art from Ian Rolls, Abi Overland, Nick Romeril, Pippa Barrow and June Gould.
The artwork can be seen at Piquet House as well as on the Skipton Open Studios website. Bids will be accepted from these venues or by email to Arthouse Jersey, with the successful winners to be announced on 1st July.
Caitlyn Serey says donations will go a long way.
“While ArtHouse Jersey knows there’s so many talented artists on the island, we always have very limited funding so we can only give a few grants to artists every year.
“This is about celebrating Jersey artists and the more money we raise, the more grants we can give to support their work.”
The art is available to see at Piquet House every day until 1st July between 10am and 5pm.
